  Barrs of Cloak ( Land on the ridges of rock )

Situated up the Calder Glen from Lochwinnoch, 500ft above sea level, 1/2 mile from the main Kilmacolm B768 Road, our traditional farmhouse has two self catering cottages to let and is on the edge of Muirshiel Coutry Park. The house sits in two acres of natural garden and is full of wildlife. A pair of mallard keep trying to nest in the pond! Both flats have their own entrances from the courtyard and have fine views over the garden and local countryside.
The village is 1.5 miles away on bus and train routes for Glasgow and the clyde coastal resorts, both about 30 minutes. Dunoon and the Cowal peninsula are 1 hour by car and ferry; Inveraray, Stirling, Fife and Edinburgh are about 75 minutes by car.
Golf courses number over 50 within a 25 mile radius. There are 3 commercial fisheries locally. Fishing, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and cycling are available at Muirshiel Leisure centre.

LOCHWINNOCH : The village has two grocery stores stores, one specialist butcher and a greengrocer. There also two bakeries, a post office and a chemist, a paper shop and two hairdressers. Two restaurants, a cafe, a tearoom, three pubs, two takeaways, one Italian, and the other Indian, can give the cook a night off. The village is well served with a doctor, a dentist and three churches.

GLASGOW : The city of Glasgow is rich in Victorian architecture, art galleries, theatres, colourful parks and is the birthplace of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

PAISLEY : Paisley, beside the airport is about 10 miles away and has a 12th century abbey, museum and is home of the unique Paisley Shawl. Nearby Kilbarchan has its Weavers Cottage built in 1723 and is now a conservation village.

   
                                   
                           
      ACTIVITIES :                    
    For the energetic you can walk from the house either up the single track road towards the Clyde Muirsheil Country Park and explore the different trails there or turn down the road which leads you to the village.
There you can gaze at the Loch and watch the crested grebes displaying in the spring. In the winter there may be whooper swans, greylag geese and goosanders. The RSPB shop supplies snacks and is open all year from 10am - 5pm (closed only at Christmas & New Year). Alternatively you can walk on the newly tarmaced railway line and head off toward Paisley in one direction or the coast in the other. Water pursuits on the Loch include: canoeing, windsurfing, rowing, dingy sailing and fishing.
